Neverwinter Nights Module

This is the module that I created for the Bioware Writing contest back in November 2005. It is my first try at module design using the module editor so it is not as polished as I wished it to be. I plan on polishing it and making future modules.

You can download the module and see its rating and specs at the NWNVault here.

To create the characters in this module, I wrote their back stories. This gave them a little more life than if I had just placed random characters into the mod. You can read them here.

When writing the script, I used the active format discribed in Rafael Chandler's article "Organizing And Formatting Game Dialogue". I did change a few things to make it work with the editor. Using this method, I was able to write and test the dialogue before bringing it into the editor. You can download a copy of the script here.

Post Mortem

After the contest had ended, I sat back and reviewed my performance in making this module. I found that I could have done better if I had a design document that I followed. I started this module to get familiar with the editing environment and fell in love with my work. Instead of stopping at that moment and fleshing out the details on paper, I continued to work on it in the editor. This is the main reason that I feel that I did as poorly in the contest. For my next module I plan on making a complete design doc and script before even touching the editor.

Another problem that I found was my lack of focus on the project. I let myself get distracted many times when I should have been working on the module itself. I plan on budgeting my time more wisely in the future and making sure that I finish my next module properly and in a timely manner.
